- Advocate for and persuade executive management to prioritize process safety and allocate adequate resources to process safety improvement efforts.
- Provide technical consultancy and interpret process safety management (PSM) requirements, fire prevention and protection system design codes, and applicable standards.
- Ensure that process hazard analyses (PHAs) are conducted for each covered process, in compliance with regulatory and safety requirements.
- Verify the completeness and accuracy of process safety information (PSI), including hazard information on Highly Hazardous Chemicals (HHC), technology, and equipment for covered processes.
- Assess the operational impact of company activities on the local community, utilizing international standards and benchmarks such as carbon footprint analysis.
- Lead safety reviews for new facilities and significant modifications to existing ones, ensuring:
- Compliance with design specifications for construction and equipment.
- The presence of adequate safety, operating, maintenance, and emergency procedures.
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Loss Management Engineering, Fire Engineering, Safety Engineering, or related field.
- Experience: At least 10 years of practical, hands-on experience in process safety, fire protection engineering, or industrial safety management.
- Fire Protection Engineering Expertise: High-level expertise in fire safety, system design, and relevant technical standards.
- Influencing & Leadership: Strong ability to influence and drive change in organizational safety culture, effectively advocating for process safety initiatives.
- Risk & Safety Management: Extensive experience with risk analysis, process safety management, major incident investigations, and conducting safety audits.
- Analytical & Problem-Solving: Strong analytical thinking with the ability to solve complex safety-related issues.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to engage with management, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, PHAST, and PHA-Pro applications.
