Key Responsibilities:
The Learning Support Assistant reports directly to the Head of SENDCO and is responsible as part of a SENDCO team.
The Learning Support Assistant will be:
• Responsible for providing 1:1 support for an individual pupil in and out of the classroom.
• Responsible for escorting the student safely around the school.
• To have a flexible approach and be ready to support the student as various times including break times and lunchtimes.
• Responsible to the class teacher during lessons in which they are supporting a student.
• Will have experience of working with children with learning difficulties and knowledge of their range of needs.
• Will have experience of working with younger students Early Years age 3-5 years.
• Will have excellent communication skills to collaborate with teachers, and parents.
• Responsible for assisting in the maintenance of good discipline in all lessons taught by following the school’s disciplinary policies and procedures and the guidance of the class teacher.
• Responsible for ensuring that the individual student they support receives guidance in lessons, or individual sessions, which scaffolds the pupils learning.
• Promote and support school policies on pupil behaviour.
• Promote social and emotional development of pupils.
• Maintain confidentiality about home-school, pupil, teacher/ schoolwork matters.
• Contribute to Annual Review meetings, as appropriate.
