Major Duties and Responsibilities listed may include, but are not limited to the following:
As a school psychologist:
Provide counselling, instruction, and mentoring for those struggling with social, emotional, and behavioural problems.
Increase achievement by assessing barriers to learning and determining the best instructional strategies to improve learning
Promote wellness and resilience by reinforcing communication and social skills, problem solving, anger management, self-regulation, self-determination, and optimism.
Work with Students and Their Families to:
Identify and address learning and behaviour problems that interfere with school success
Evaluate eligibility for special education services (within a multidisciplinary team)
Support students' social, emotional, and behavioural health
Teach parenting skills and enhance home–school collaboration
Make referrals and help coordinate community support service
Work with teachers to:
Identify and resolve academic barriers to learning
Design and implement student progress monitoring systems
Design and implement academic and behavioural interventions
Support effective individualised instruction
Create positive classroom environments
Motivate all students to engage in learning
Work with Administrators to:
Collect and analyse data related to school improvement, student outcomes, and accountability requirements
Implement school-wide prevention programs that help maintain positive school climates conducive to learning
Promote school policies and practices that ensure the safety of all students by reducing school violence, bullying, and harassment
Respond to crises by providing leadership, direct services, and coordination with needed community services
Work with the Community to:
Coordinate the delivery of services to students and their families in and outside of school
Help students transition to and from school and community learning environments, such as residential treatment or juvenile justice programs
Maintains communication with administrators, teachers, other school personnel, and parents/guardians to enhance cooperative action, which will meet the health and safety needs of students.
Initiates contact with and acts as a liaison between the home, school, community health agencies and the private medical sector to enhance the health and wellness of the school community.
Maintains confidentiality regarding all school and health-related issues.
Working Hours
On normal school day work hours are from 7.30 AM to 4.00 PM, however may be assigned to duties or required to attend meeting from 7.00 AM or 5.00 PM. from time to time.
Working Day
A weekday when the school is in session and students have a normal schedule, exam etc.
Non-Student Teacher work Day
On teacher work days when student are not at school the working hours depend on Head of SSS assigned. When professional development or other needs require working on a weekend, the work hours for school psychologist will be announced according to the requirements of the event and approval by Head of SSS.
- Degree in Psychology or higher
- Holds Psychologist licensed/registered *Required
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in psycho
- Education assessment/diagnosis
- English language proficiency **Required, Online Interview Process in English
