Position: Environment Officer
Department: Safety
Reports to : Safety Manager
Employment Type: Full-time
Job Summary
The Environment Officer is responsible for ensuring that the company follows environmental laws, policies, and sustainability standards. This role involves monitoring environmental impacts, improving waste management, reducing pollution, and promoting eco-friendly practices within the organization.
Key Responsibilities
1. Environmental Compliance & Regulations
Ensure the company follows local and international environmental laws.
Stay updated on ISO 14001 and other relevant environmental management systems.
Assist in obtaining environmental permits and ensure regulatory compliance.
2. Environmental Monitoring & Reporting
Conduct environmental inspections and audits for air, water, and waste pollution.
Monitor waste disposal, wastewater treatment, and energy usage.
Prepare and submit environmental reports to management and government agencies.
3. Pollution & Waste Management
Develop and implement waste reduction and recycling programs.
Ensure hazardous waste is managed and disposed of correctly.
Identify ways to improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon footprint.
4. Training & Awareness
Conduct environmental training for employees and promote eco-friendly workplace habits.
Organize sustainability campaigns and environmental awareness programs.
5. Risk Assessment & Improvement
Identify potential environmental risks and suggest solutions.
Work with teams to improve sustainability projects and green initiatives.
Support emergency response plans for environmental hazards and accidents.
Qualifications & Skills
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
- 0-5 years of experience in environmental management, compliance, or sustainability (varies by level).
- Experience with ISO 14001, waste management, and pollution control is an advantage.
Skills & Competencies
- Knowledge of environmental laws and compliance requirements.
- Strong problem-solving skills for handling environmental issues.
- Good communication skills for reporting and training employees.
- Ability to work with government agencies and other stakeholders.
- Attention to detail and ability to handle documentation and audits.
- Preferred Certifications (Optional but Beneficial)
- ISO 14001: Environmental Management System (EMS)
- Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Certification
- Pollution Control and Waste Management Training
Work Conditions
Office and field-based work (e.g., factory, construction site, or industrial plant).
Occasional travel for site inspections or regulatory meetings.
May require work in hazardous environments (protective gear provided).
