BASIC FUNCTIONS REQUIRED:
Serves as a Special Investigator - conducting the duties of both an Investigative Specialist, Cultural Advisor, Liaison Officer and a Technical Information Specialist. In these capacities the incumbent is responsible for supporting the Force Protection Detachment-Thailand (FPD-T), which includes military, law enforcement, counterintelligence, and liaison missions. Interpretation/Translate both orally and in writing, documents and conversations during in a wide variety of situations for the Chief and assigned Special Agents Force Protection Detachment (FPD). This position requires frequent in-country Temporary Duty (TDY) travel for periods up to and including 30 days at a time. TDY travel often occurs on short notice to respond to crises or unforeseen events impacting Department of Defense (DoD) personnel. The position reports directly to the Local National Investigator Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Option 1
A bachelor’s degree in political science, government, communications, English, or literature is required.
Option 2
Completion 2 years of full-time study at college or university is required.
(2) Experience:
Option 1:
Normal requirement: FSN-8
At least two years of work experience in interpretation/translation with at least one of those year’s interfacing with all levels (particularly with Seniors) of law enforcement, military, and government sectors is required.
Option 2:
Substitution of Experience for Education: FSN-8
At least four years of work experience in interpretation/translation with at least one of those year’s interfacing with all levels (particularly with Seniors) of law enforcement, military, and government sectors is required.

(3) Language: (This may be tested): Fluent of English and Fluent of Thai (speaking/reading/writing) is required.
• Please clarify level of your THAI and ENGLISH language skills.
• You are required to pass the English Placement Test (EPT) that is conducted by the Regional Human Resources Office, or submit a copy of valid TOEIC score (Listening and Reading Section) of at least 855 with your application.
(4) Knowledge:
• Must be very knowledgeable of host country law enforcement and military structures, policies, laws and regulations.
(5) Skills And Abilities:
• Must have basic computer skills and have ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Must have ability to work under pressure with timelines.
• Must have ability to independently identify important information as well as the proper ways to process, analyze, and report that information.
