Supplier Development Engineer (Metal)

Job scope:

The successful candidate will be assigned to the metal category. Identify and develop new suppliers, while supporting the engineering design concepts for manufacturability, achieve cost effective processes, and optimize suppliers’ performance in support of company’s goals.

Key Responsibility:

• Provide technical support for new and existing projects, ensuring manufacturability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to source and qualify metal components for Bernina Thailand and Bernina International AG.
• Work closely with project teams and suppliers to resolve technical challenges throughout the product lifecycle, including post-SOP (Start of Production).
• Conduct technical analyses and optimize processes with suppliers to improve quality and efficiency.
• Assess supplier risks and develop performance improvement plans for long-term sustainability.
• Ensure compliance with procurement procedures and category strategies in all decision-making processes.
• Undertake additional tasks as assigned by superior.

• Thai nationality.
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing technology, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in supplier development.
• Understanding in any metal processes such as stamping, machining, extrusion, sintering, forging, welding, heat treatment and surface treatment is crucial. This includes knowledge of different types of metals and their properties.
• Demonstrated expertise in the development and optimization of metal processes.
• Skilled in the design, construction, and maintenance of tools.
• Advanced skills in communication, leadership, and project management.
• Collaborate effectively with diverse teams and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Proficient in MS Office and Team Center.
• Professional in English communication.
• Certified in ISO9001, IATF16949, FMEA, MSA, SPC, PPAP, GD&T.
• Willingness to travel 20%.
