Buyer & Supply Planning section manager

    The Buyer & Supply planning section manager will be responsible for managing and executing the procurement of products from international suppliers for our retail business. This includes negotiating pricing, ensuring quality standards, coordinating logistics, and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in global sourcing, procurement, and inventory management, and be adept at navigating the complexities of international trade regulations.

Role & Responsibility 

1. Supplier Relationship Management:

• Establish and maintain strong relationships with foreign suppliers, ensuring they meet quality, cost, and delivery standards.
• Identify and evaluate new suppliers to support business growth and maintain a competitive edge in the market.
• Conduct regular supplier audits and performance reviews.

2. Negotiation & Contracting:

• Lead negotiations with suppliers to secure the best possible terms in pricing, payment terms, and product quality.
• Develop and manage contracts, ensuring compliance with company policies and relevant international trade laws.

3. Global Sourcing & Procurement:

• Develop and execute sourcing strategies that align with business objectives, including cost reduction, risk mitigation, and quality improvements.
• Monitor global market trends, exchange rates, and supplier performance to anticipate supply chain challenges.
• Identify opportunities to improve lead times, inventory levels, and procurement processes.

4. Product & Inventory Management:

• Collaborate closely with the product and sales teams to forecast demand and ensure timely delivery of products.
• Work with logistics and supply chain teams to manage the importation process, ensuring that goods comply with customs regulations.
• Optimize inventory levels and minimize stockouts while maintaining cost-effectiveness.

5. Compliance & Risk Management:

• Ensure adherence to international trade regulations, including tariffs, duties, and legal requirements for imported goods.
• Manage supply chain risks by identifying alternative sources and contingency plans to mitigate disruptions.
• Stay updated on geopolitical and economic developments that may impact the supply chain.

6. Reporting & Analysis:

• Analyze procurement data to track savings, supplier performance, and product availability.
• Prepare regular reports on purchasing activities, budget performance, and market trends for senior management.
• Evaluate the cost-effectiveness of purchases and suggest improvements to processes.

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum 5-7 years of experience in a buying or procurement role, with significant exposure to international sourcing and retail business.
• Strong negotiation and contract management, has a proven track record in negotiating useful terms.
• Excellent organizational & project management with analytical problem solving skills.
• In-depth understanding of import regulations, customs procedures, and international trade compliance.
• Familiar with inventory management system and the process of supply chain.
• Good skill in using Ms office (excel, word, PowerPoint).
• Professional email and business letter writing skills.
• Fluent in English (both spoken and written) is required. Proficiency in a Chinese language is preferred.
• A proactive person with a good level of initiative, strategic thinking ability and possessing business sense. 
• Ability to travel overseas occasionally, either independently or with a team, to fulfill specific tasks.
