Sports Facility Technician

Key Responsibilities:
The Sports Facility Technician will be responsible for the maintenance of the Shrewsbury sports facility which will include the organisation of the equipment rooms, setting up of lessons and the field management (Chatrium, Front and Canterbury Fields). This will require him/her to work closely with the Sports & Activities Team as well as the PE Department. He/She will work closely with the Director of Sports and Activities and Head of PE in the daily and weekly maintenance of the Sports Complex. In addition, he/she will need to work closely with the other external staff members of the school ie. gardeners, maintenance, Business Service Manager in order for the Sports and PE Facility to be kept in a good working environment. The Sports Facility Technician will be responsible to the Director of Sport and Activities.
The Sport Facility Technician will:
- Maintain the sports fields to a high level for the delivery of PE curriculum lessons. This will involve line marking, organising the layout of the field to maximise space for the various activities and the maintenance of the sports equipment.
- Be fully involved in the after-school sports excellence programme with the maintenance and layout of the field and sports complex. This may also involve the maintenance of the sports complex during tournaments and competitions. This will involve weekend and evening work.
- Maintain the teaching areas and stock rooms in a tidy manner.
- Assist in the budgeting of equipment and to assist the Director of Sports and Activities in the auditing and stock take of equipment.
- Assist the Director of Sports and Activities and Head of PE in the organising and set up of equipment for PE curriculum lessons and after-school sports activities.
- Involved in the House Tournaments with the setting up of equipment and the facility for Sports Days, Swimming Galas and House Sports Fixtures.
- Be responsible for outdoor activity equipment for example storage, keeping the log on equipment, auditing and stock taking of the equipment etc.
- Carry out additional tasks for PE or the Sports and Activities Department as requested by the Head of Senior and Head of Junior PE and the Director of Sport and Activities.
- Other ad hoc duties as requested.
The Sports Facility Technician should have the following qualities
- Possess at least a bachelor degree.

- To be flexible with extended hours and weekend commitment
