Responsibilities:
- Proactively monitoring database performance and troubleshooting issues.
- Collaborating with engineers and analytics professionals to optimize queries, resolve performance bottlenecks, enhance existing schemas, and design new ones.
- Creating and maintaining change control and testing processes, reviewing and approving database modifications.
- Conducting research and providing recommendations on data-related products, services, protocols, and standards while planning for the future growth of our data assets.
- Reviewing database development and deployment processes to identify and implement improvements, such as enabling online schema changes.
- Creating and maintaining documentation, troubleshooting playbooks, testing failover, and recovery plans.
- Improving database expertise company-wide.
- Ensure data security and integrity, including implementation of access controls,
backups, and recovery plans.
Implement disaster recovery plans and procedures to ensure database availability and functionality during system outages or disruptions.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor or higher in Computer Science, Computer engineering, Information Systems or related technical degree.
- Experience: More than 3 years of database management and engineering experience.
- Exceptional SQL development and performance tuning skills.
- Knowledge in Oracle or PostgreSQL.
- Strong knowledge of database administration, Software Development Life Cycle(SDLC), and systems analysis procedures.
- Experience architecting large-scale production database platforms.
- Familiarity with system-level metrics and practical use of common Linux utilities.
- Understanding of virtualization and clustered environments.
- Great communication skills and a passion for both teaching and learning.
