Job Responsibilities
Legal Manager reports to Finance Director and be assigned to provide strategic legal expertise and advice to various of business units and ensure the company group’s activities are compliant with international and national laws and regulations. Key responsibilities include providing advice and pragmatic solutions to preempt and address legal challenges unique to the company, conducting thorough risk assessments, managing compliance audits, and implementing effective legal strategies. Acting as a business partner and working with stakeholders from all levels, including the APAC regional team. The role will help those seeking to develop leadership and project management skills to lead legal and compliance initiatives and interact cross-functionally, enhancing both legal acumen and managerial expertise.
Core Legal Advice
- Ensuring compliance with applicable laws and providing professional legal advice on critical business matters.
- Drafting and reviewing contracts to meet business requirements and Group/APAC policies.
- Identifying and mitigating potential legal risks to protect business interests and management from liability.
- Managing legal disputes and the Legal Report.
Intellectual Property Rights
- Protecting and enforcing IP rights, including managing contentious issues and litigations.
- Renewing existing IP registrations and submitting new IPs as needed.
Labor Law
- Advising HR on labor law, reviewing employment contracts, and managing disputes with employees.
Compliance
- Ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and Knauf Group/APAC policies.
- Leading the implementation of compliance programs, including but not limited to data privacy, anti-trust, anti-bribery, and sanctions.
- Establishing and maintaining local Compliance related procedures and processes tailored to the company’s businesses and operations.
- Conducting regular reviews and audits to assess compliance with internal policies and external regulations, to identify gaps and areas for improvement
- Preparing reports to the APAC team on legal and compliance developments.
Service Sharing and Support
- Supporting legal and IP matters for Thailand entities and assisting with partner agreements and ad-hoc legal projects.
- Managing company registration, director changes, and meeting minutes for Gypsum Business Units to ensure compliance with relevant laws.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law.
- Proficient in English with a minimum TOEIC score of 800.
- Good command of MS Office.
- In-depth knowledge of corporate law, compliance frameworks, and local legislation.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Good regulatory / compliance knowledge and skills (CIPP or CIPM certified is an advantage)
Experience
- At least 5 years of experience in Corporate Law, preferably from an international law firm or multinational company.
- Substantive legal experience in private practice (preferably mid-senior level).
- Strong interpersonal and analytical skills.
- Strong technical, drafting, research and analytical skills with practical commercial acumen.
- Experience in implementing Compliance programs, policies and procedures is an added advantage.
