Main Responsibility

● Deliver and maintain high standards of Thai Language & Thai Culture teaching and learning.

● Lead pedagogical initiative in collaboration with other teachers.
● Ensure that the Thai curriculum is mapped across the school and recorded and adjusted following periodic review - this includes lesson planning, scheme of works - and that staff are following the agreed schema.
● Monitor and evaluate student progress across classes using a range of assessment strategies
● Ensure reports accurately reflect student outcomes for all students
● Ensure that exam syllabuses are adequately covered and that exam performance is analysed and reviewed.
● Liaise and collaborate with the School Director regarding Thai MOE curriculum requirements.
● Actively contribute to the school's vibrant learning community and stay updated with the latest trends and best practices in international education as ‘leaders of learning’.

Pedagogy and Curriculum Oversight
1. Ensure the design of the Thai Language curriculum is vertically and horizontally aligned across phases, and liaise with staff regarding further whole school alignment eg in terms of content, skills, transition etc
2. Promote planning and pedagogical practices which focus on active learning strategies to engage, enrich and motivate students.
3. Ensure that differentiated teaching and learning practices are embedded within the subject area to meet the needs of all students
4. Liaise with the Additional Educational Needs team and English Language Acquisition team as appropriate regarding pupil progress
5. Ensure that AfL strategies are used effectively to support the progress of learners and provide feedback to inform teaching and learning
6. Maximise the use of data to i) track student progress, and ii) inform teaching and learning - taking appropriate action/intervention as appropriate
7. To be responsible (personally, or through delegation) for the drive to ensure Edtech and Digital Citizenship is integrated to enhance teaching and learning across the subject area. This includes, but is not limited to:
a. The integration of Edtech and Digital Citizenship in curriculum planning and development eg curriculum units, projects, or other educational technology applications
b. Ensuring the development of tech integration is included in faculty action planning, and progress is reviewed according to the strategic planning cycle
c. To regularly share best Edtech practice with colleagues (eg in Staff Briefing; INSET programme etc)
8. Promote global citizenship, cross-curricular dimensions and the development of cross-curricular skills
9. Proactively share best pedagogical practices with all staff

Faculty Leadership and Management
1. Liaise with the Principals to deploy and line manage staff to meet the requirements of the timetabled curriculum (including support staff i.e. technicians)
2. Instil high expectations within the subject area ensuring that teachers fulfil professional obligations eg developing agreed schemes of learning, understanding the requirements of examination syllabi, and meeting assessment deadlines
3. Keep abreast of curriculum and academic initiatives/changes and disseminate information as appropriate
4. Organise and chair regular team meetings and ensure that a record of each meeting is maintained
5. Oversee and manage non-teachers attached to the subject area including interns, teaching assistants, technicians, etc.
6. Ensure that teachers in the subject area are fully involved in, or appraised of, school initiatives and to provide an opportunity for the safe exchange of ideas and opinions
7. Oversee the Professional Growth of team members as per the school policy and monitor standards of teaching and learning across the subject area
8. Oversee the strategic planning of the subject area - action planning, implementation, and review
9. Identify, and effectively resolve, any areas of concern within the subject area, and work with the Senior Leadership Team regarding unresolved issues of academic/professional/pedagogical concern
10. Ensure that the faculty is adequately resourced for the delivery of the curriculum, and prepare, with the Principal, the faculty budgets
11. Liaise, as necessary, with external examination co-ordinators (A Level, IGCSE etc)
12. Assist in the recruitment and induction of teachers
13. Bring any matters of concern relating to health and safety within the faculty classrooms etc to the attention of the relevant administrator
14. Contribute to the review and development of school policies, and to implement them as required

Generic Responsibilities
1. Fulfil the requirements of the generic teacher job description
2. Ensure compliance with all Primary and Secondary School policies, procedures and protocols
3. Promote high standards in all aspects of school life, particularly in relation to student progress, and drive school improvement
4. Ensure health and safety and resource management in all teaching spaces
5. Actively support the vision, ethos, culture and policies of the school
6. Inspire and motivate students, teachers and other school employees, prioritising positive relationships
7. Contribute towards a school culture which is positive, purposeful and professional
8. Engage purposefully in the school Professional Growth and Performance Management process
9. To support, and be present at school functions/events as requested by the Principal or Head of School
10. Organize regular showcase events to demonstrate and celebrate student achievement eg exhibitions; performances/productions; sports events; displays etc.

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or similar field
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English.
  • Experience and understanding of the UK Early Years Curriculum is preferable.
  • Passion and commitment to the holistic development of children is a must.

SBS International Bangkok, the latest school in the Arthit Ourairat Institution, a group of bilingual and international schools in Thailand, will open to receive the first student cohorts in May 2025, with a view to all year groups being filled three years after opening.
