Job Overview:

The Field Service Engineer is responsible for the design, installation, and maintenance of wellhead systems used in oil and gas production. This includes managing wellhead equipment, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and supporting operations teams during well interventions or maintenance activities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Wellhead Design and Installation: Design and supervise the installation of wellhead systems, including casing heads, blowout preventers (BOPs), and Christmas trees. Ensure that the equipment meets project specifications and industry standards.

• Maintenance and Operations Support: Provide technical support during well operations, ensuring the wellhead system functions correctly. This includes troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of wellhead equipment.

• Wellhead Integrity Management: Monitor the condition of wellhead systems and implement strategies to maintain their integrity, including pressure testing and corrosion control.

• Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with drilling, production, and reservoir engineers to coordinate wellhead operations and ensure alignment with project goals.

• Technical Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of wellhead installations, maintenance activities, and equipment performance. Prepare detailed reports on wellhead system status and improvements.

• Safety and Compliance: Ensure that wellhead operations comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations. Promote a culture of safety and mitigate risks related to wellhead systems.

• Well Interventions: Lead or participate in well interventions for maintenance, workover, or stimulation operations to optimize production and address equipment failures.

• Training and Mentorship: Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and field technicians on wellhead equipment and procedures.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of wellhead systems, pressure control equipment, and drilling/completion processes.

• Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze and resolve technical issues related to wellhead systems and equipment performance.

• Communication Skills: Strong communication skills to coordinate with various teams, stakeholders, and clients.

• Attention to Detail: Ensure precision in wellhead operations and maintenance to prevent accidents and optimize production.

• Project Management: Ability to manage multiple wellhead projects, including design, installation, and operational phases.

• Safety Awareness: Knowledge of industry safety standards and best practices in wellhead operations.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering: Preferably in Petroleum, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering.

• Experience: Minimum of 3 years in wellhead engineering, oilfield operations, or a related field, with hands-on experience in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of wellhead systems.

• Certifications: Relevant industry certifications such as IWCF (International Well Control Forum) or wellhead and pressure control training would be beneficial.

Working Conditions:

• Fieldwork and offshore/onshore operations may be required.

• May need to work in challenging and remote environments, requiring flexibility and adaptability.

• Protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, and safety boots must be worn in certain work settings.

A Field Service Engineer plays a vital role in the oil and gas industry, ensuring the integrity and operational efficiency of wellheads, which are essential for the safe and successful extraction of oil and gas.
